Renting the mobile home vs. owning

The rules can change depending on whether you are renting the mobile home, or whether you own the mobile home and are renting the lot from a mobile home park.

If you are renting the mobile home from the landlord then the same rules apply to you and your landlord as stated throughout the Texas Tenant Advisor. It makes no difference that you are renting a mobile home versus a house or an apartment.

Different rules if own mobile home

If you own the mobile home (or in the process of paying for it) and are only renting the lot from the landlord, then a new set of laws goes into effect on April 1, 2002 which will address numerous issues. See Mobile Home Statutes.
